Renew a computer's IP address

You can use the following procedure to stop using one IP address with your computer, and get a new one.

To renew the computerÆs IP address in Microsoft Windows

1. Click this button:
   
   

2. At the DOS command prompt, type ipconfig /release.

3. Press Enter, and then wait briefly.

4. Type ipconfig /renew, and then press Enter.

5. To exit the DOS window, type exit and then press Enter.

To open a DOS command prompt yourself, click Start, and then Run. Type command, and then press Enter.
